Retro Restoration
1958 Shasta Airflyte

This project started with a clean example of a vintage Shasta. Typical water damage under both front side windows, and some serious water damage from a broken rear window. Skin was fair except heavy hail damage to the roof, but it had both wings!

Trailer is taken down to the wooden frame, and we begin removing the damaged areas

New ash paneling and structural wood is in the process of being installed

The new ash paneling is refinished as close to the original shade as possible.

After the interior wood is completely refinished the coach is rewired and new insulation is added

Original side skin is reused on this one, but was stripped of all old paint. New roof skin and front panel were soon added

Back from painting it's time to reassemble. All window frames were polished, new glass, window seals and screens were installed.

12V inverter system was installed behind one storage compartment

Dinette seats recovered in vinyl, original floor was retained

Porta-potty installed in cabinet under stove. Easily swivels out for use, tucks away out of site when done

Final product. New vintage style awning custom made. Ready for another 50 years of camping enjoyment.
